Geoponics leads the way on National Golf Day

Apr 24, 2017
On the heels of Earth Day, Geoponics, an environmentally friendly company serving the golf and turf industries, is planning to bring sustainable methods to National Golf Day celebrations. Industry leaders will celebrate the 10th Annual National Golf Day in Washington, D.C., and across the country, on Wednesday, April 26. Several leaders will start a bit early this year with the National Mall Service Project scheduled Tuesday morning to provide beautification as a community service initiative to benefit the National Park Service. Seevers will join other members of the Carolinas Golf Course Superintendent Association on a trip to the South Carolina capital of Columbia. Geoponics is particularly well known for products that have decreased overseeding, over-watering, over-fertilizing and the over-use of harsh chemicals in favor of Endurant turf colorants and soil surfactants that lead the industry in water conservation. National Golf Day was announced by We Are Golf, a coalition of golf’s leading organizations working together to communicate the game’s economic, environmental, charitable and fitness benefits to Congressional leaders. The scope is broad. Golf courses add up to more than two million acres of green space in the U.S. Though steadily improving, the industry has often been criticized for its negative environmental impact, as are several of the new Trump administration's policies. Trump owns nearly 20 golf courses around the world, including one recently vandalized, not for the golf course's direct environmental impact, but as protest to his policies. Geoponics seeks to provide benefits to all. Geoponics, Endurant turf colorants, among golf industry leaders taking to Capitol Hill for National Golf Day National Golf Day celebrates the game’s nearly $70 billion economy, $4 billion annual charitable contribution and other benefits. Industry leaders will meet with Members of Congress, the Executive Branch and federal agencies to discuss more than 15,000 businesses related to golf, approximately two million jobs in the industry, tax revenue and tourism value, among other golf-related contributions to the nation. “We look forward to celebrating the 10th anniversary of National Golf Day by educating our country's lawmakers about the game's significant impact," said Steve Mona, Chief Executive Officer of World Golf Foundation, administrator of WE ARE GOLF, in a prepared statement. During that same 10 year span, Geoponics has greatly reduced one of the leading practices in golf course maintenance that caused environmental damage-- overseeding. Geoponics developed Endurant turf colorants to provide an alternative to the practices of overseeding, over-watering, over-fertilizing and relying on harsh chemicals. President Donald Trump’s affinity toward golf leads to a positive outlook for the golf industry’s future. “We are optimistic about the momentum for golf in 2017 and also pleased with the strides our industry has made on Capitol Hill in the last decade to ensure that golf's interests are effectively represented,” Mona has said. Twitter is expected to be abuzz this week about the event. Last year, National Golf Day included more than 120 scheduled Congressional meetings in one day. The Twitter campaign led to more than 52 million impressions, reaching 17.7 million accounts, including 4.4 million users in a one-hour span. Should Trump choose to support the campaign, and likely even without his Tweets, 2017 should eclipse previous years as the service project brings Geoponics and other industry insiders to Capitol Hill as early as Monday.
