Painting turf: Choosing the application rate

Mar 21, 2016
Endurant turf colorants come in a variety of shades of green to match the most popular species of turfgrass. Once the color of green is selected, mix ratios and application rates allow for further customization of the final color of the turfgrass. Check out dozens of photos to see the effect of various application rates using Endurant turf colorants.

Selecting a color, deciding the mix ratio and application rate

Endurant colorants include Endurant TC, the original blend of natural vibrant green turfgrass; Endurant TE, highly concentrated green turf enhancer for actively growing grass; Endurant FW, super concentrated to match the deep, rich green of bermudagrass fairways; Endurant PR, the highly concentrated bright, vibrant green of perennial rye grass and Endurant Premium, an ultra-concentration for the deepest green color. Depth of color: Application rates & mix ratios

After selecting the desired shade of green, the depth of that color is another choice. Depth of color is largely determined by mix ratio and the application rate. Also effecting the depth of color is the current color of the turfgrass. The current color along with the Endurant colorant will combine to create the final color depth. Dormant grass that is not providing the chlorophyl related green color will be straw yellow or drab brown. This might require one of Endurant's more highly concentrated blends and/ or a higher application rate. A highly concentrated blend of Endurant, such as Endurant Premium, often provides desired results in just one application, or sometimes two such as when painting in two directions to avoid streaking. Many golf course superintendents will add several applications for a variety of reasons while others apply Endurant once.
