How to setup and calibrate the spray rig
You've done your homework, purchased your
Endurant and
prepared the turfgrass for spray. Now, you need to prepare the sprayer.
Why should I calibrate my sprayer?
- Calibrating your sprayer ensures that you are getting the correct amount and even coverage of colorant onto the turf.
- Calibrating should be done a couple times a year and only takes minutes.
What tools do I need?
[gallery columns="6" ids="657,652,656,653,654,655"]
- Small measuring tape that measures up to 25”
- Large measuring tape or wheel that measures up to 250’
- Stopwatch
- Calibration cup
- Something to mark your starting and stopping point, such as marker flags
Before beginning to calibrate your sprayer make sure: ALWAYS WEAR YOUR PPE.
There are 7 simple and easy steps to make sure that your sprayer is calibrated.
1. Measure the distance between your nozzles with the small measuring tape.
2. Determine the travel distance needed for your sprayer using this chart:
Nozzle Spacing in inches Travel Distance in feet
18” 227’
20” 204’
22” 185’
24” 170’
26” 157’
3. Use the large tape and measure the distance you will need to travel.
4. Fill your sprayer half full of water.
5. Operate the sprayer at the speed and pressure of your application process. Using the stopwatch, time the determined travel distance from the above chart. Do this a couple times and get the average time it takes for you to travel the distance.
6. Once you have the time that it takes to cover the distance, set the sprayer psi to the designated pressure and use the calibration cup to catch the water for the same amount of time it took you to cover the distance.
7. Your total oz collected will equal your Gallons Per Acre.
NOTE: If you see more than a 5% difference from nozzle to nozzle, it would be recommended to replace worn nozzles.
This simple process can and will make a difference in the application of colorants. If you still have questions, contact your Geoponics representative directly or info@geoponicscorp.com, 1-877-ECO-GROW.
